THE STONE WAS ROLLED AWAY
1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Mag'dalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salo'me, bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. 2 And very early on the first day of the week they went to the tomb when the sun had risen. 3 And they were saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the tomb?" 4 And looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled away; -- it was very large.
Mark 16:1-4
Many of us go through lives carrying around large stones that keep us trapped inside our respective "tombs." Some of us, with the help of God, have had these stones rolled away - and now - we are able to easily walk out of whatever tomb we have been occupying.
Easter is a time to remind us that God has already done the hard work for us by rolling that stone away. The victory has already been won and God is always there ready to help us roll away any other stones we have in our lives.
As a people in community, we need to remember that God has put others in our lives who are willing to do some stone rolling for our benefit; then are ready to help us while we're in the tomb or to walk out of it.
Alleluiia, Jesus has Risen! Even death has no victory over a Resurrection People...remember, you are a person of the Resurrection!!!
Meditation: Think about those "stones" that still need to be rolled away in your life. Ask the Lord to roll those "stones" away so you can more fully live the Resurrection. Ask the Lord to put people in your life like Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome, who can assist in rolling away those "stones."
Call to Action: Just like the women in the Gospel reading did, be ready to help someone who may still be in their "tomb." Seek out people in your life, your community whom you could help in some way. Perhaps you can share your story of a Resurrection victory with them for encouragement.
